Summary

A refactorable number (also called a tau number) is a positive integer that is divisible by the number of its own divisors. In other words, if a number has (d(n)) divisors, then it is refactorable when (d(n)) divides (n). For example, 8 is refactorable because it has 4 divisors (1, 2, 4, 8) and 4 divides 8. 

These numbers were introduced by the mathematician Curtis Cooper and Robert Kennedy and have interesting connections to number theory, especially the study of divisors and patterns in integers. They are not common, but they appear regularly enough to form a fascinating sequence, showing how simple ideas about counting factors can lead to deeper mathematical structures.
