Firewall (2006) is an action thriller directed by Richard Loncraine, starring Harrison Ford as Jack Stanfield, a bank security chief in Seattle. Jack’s life changes when Bill Cox, a criminal mastermind, kidnaps and holds his family hostage and forces him to exploit the bank’s security systems. Cox demands that Jack transfer $100 million from the bank’s largest accounts into offshore accounts. Under constant surveillance and threats against his wife and children, Jack is forced to use his technical knowledge, access privileges, and understanding of the bank’s security infrastructure to carry out the robbery.
As the situation escalates, Jack realizes that Cox intends to eliminate all witnesses, including him and his family. Jack secretly gathers evidence, works with his secretary Janet, and uses computer systems, financial information, GPS tracking, and surveillance technology to locate the kidnappers. He eventually tracks Cox to a remote farmhouse, where a final confrontation takes place and Jack kills Cox, rescuing his family.
The film combines cybersecurity, financial crime, extortion, kidnapping, surveillance, and family protection, although contemporary critics largely criticized its formulaic plot and improbable twists. The film had a $50 million budget and grossed about $82.8 million worldwide.[/url]
