Why Human Giants Defy the Laws of Physics

The article explains Galileo’s “square-cube law” and why truly giant humans could not survive with ordinary human proportions: as an organism grows, its weight (and volume) increases with the cube of its size, while the strength of its bones and muscles increases only roughly with the square, because strength depends on cross-sectional area.
