SageMath

Summary

SageMath is a free and open-source mathematical software system built on Python that combines dozens of powerful mathematics packages—such as NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, Maxima, GAP, FLINT, and R—into a single unified environment. Designed as a free alternative to commercial systems like Mathematica, Maple, MATLAB, and Magma, it supports a wide range of fields including algebra, calculus, number theory, geometry, graph theory, combinatorics, statistics, numerical analysis, and cryptography. SageMath can be used through a command line, Jupyter notebooks, or online services, making it suitable for both education and research. Since its launch in 2005, it has grown into a major community-driven project used by students, teachers, and researchers worldwide for symbolic computation, visualization, modeling, and scientific programming.
