Fibonacci clock
BY GUARDIAN

SUMMARY

The Fibonacci Clock is a creative and unusual timepiece that combines mathematics, design, and technology in a playful way. Created by Philippe Chrétien, it uses the famous Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5) to display the time through a series of colored squares arranged in a golden rectangle. Instead of traditional numbers and hands, users add the values of illuminated squares to figure out the hour and minutes, turning a simple task like checking the time into a small mathematical puzzle.

Red squares show hours, green squares show minutes, and blue squares represent values shared by both. The clock is not only a functional object but also a celebration of curiosity, showing how mathematical ideas can be transformed into beautiful everyday designs.
