Infinite chocolate trick explained - mklabgr - 08-04-2026 Infinite chocolate trick explained Summary The “infinite chocolate trick” is a clever geometric illusion in which a chocolate bar is cut into pieces, rearranged, and appears to produce an extra square of chocolate every time the process is repeated. However, no chocolate is actually created: the trick is a variation of the classic “missing square puzzle,” where the hidden change comes from a tiny loss of chocolate along the diagonal cut. When the pieces are rearranged, the new bar is slightly shorter and a very small amount of chocolate is redistributed along the edge, creating the illusion that an extra piece has appeared. The effect is difficult to notice because the difference is spread across the whole bar, but the laws of geometry and conservation of mass mean that an infinite supply of chocolate is impossible.
