Summary
Fermat's Room (La habitación de Fermat) is a 2007 Spanish psychological thriller directed by Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña about four mathematicians who are invited to a remote warehouse under pseudonyms—Galois, Hilbert, Pascal, and Oliva—to solve a major enigma, only to find themselves trapped in a room with rapidly shrinking walls controlled by four hydraulic presses.
Forced to solve a series of strict timed logic puzzles on a handheld device to prevent being crushed, the group slowly uncovers interconnected secrets and rivalries until they realize their host, "Hilbert," orchestrated the deadly trap out of insane professional jealousy over Goldbach's conjecture. Ultimately, three of the captives manage to decipher Hilbert's escape route, break out of the room, and flee into the night, abandoning the proof in favor of survival.
