Constantine Karatheodori , Greek Mathematician [1873-1950] - mklabgr - 07-16-2026 Constantine Karatheodori Summary Constantine Karatheodory was one of the most important Greek mathematicians of the 20th century, making major contributions to real and complex analysis, the calculus of variations, measure theory, and mathematical physics. Born in Berlin in 1873 to a Greek family, he initially studied engineering before discovering his true passion for mathematics. He built a remarkable academic career in Germany, where he worked alongside many leading scientists of his time.  His name is especially remembered because of his correspondence and collaboration with Albert Einstein, who sought his help with mathematical aspects of general relativity, particularly the Hamilton–Jacobi equation and canonical transformations. Karatheodory’s elegant mathematical insights helped clarify difficult concepts and earned Einstein’s admiration. Beyond his connection with Einstein, his own research had a lasting influence on modern mathematics and physics, making him a figure of international importance and one of Greece’s greatest scientific minds.  ARTICLE
